Tips to reduce your Holiday Stress

1. Identify your priorities and establish boundaries, say no to "lesser" priorities and ask for help when needed. By doing so will help you from feeling like you are being pulled in many directions. It will also help to reduce the risk of feeling resentment or disappointment after the holidays.
2. Take care of your body and mind with regular exercise, adequate sleep, a healthy diet and relaxation practices like yoga, meditation and/or prayer. What is important is to take responsibility for your JOY level by practicing mindfulness in each moment.
3. Be realistic and assess your expectations of  yourself and others. Do not expect your holiday season to be perfect and filled with peace and harmony. You don't have to prepare a fancy meal or give the perfect gift to each family member and friend.
4.Think less is more..This applies to clutter and things in your environment and the food you prepare and gifts you purchase. Holidays are not meant to be abundant in the way of the money that you spend but rather in the amount of love you extend and share.
5.Cultivate gratitude,an attitude of gratitude during the holidays is essential for your well being. When friends and family are trying your patience, remind yourself of why you are thankful to have them in your life. Write down 5 things you are grateful for each day before going to sleep. This will help you relax your mind and body and give appreciation to the people that matter most to you in your life.
6.Reach out, the best way I know how to manage stress and reduce anxiety is to help make life better for others. A random act of kindness or paying it forward will leave you feeling so grateful and fulfilled it's amazing. There are so many people in need of your love and generosity, reach out and help others.
